House of Bleu Productions offers a range of works, both already written and projected. We are turning out scripts at a rate of one every three weeks or so and also are in partnership with other productive script-writers and talents.
House of Bleu Productions is guided in its efforts by reflections on the contemporary understanding of genre. The foregoing twenty years or so have seen adramatic expansion in genre-based works of fiction. Vampires now contend with Renaissance heroes such as Romeo and Juliet; Ancient Romans fight in the Napoleonic Wars. Longstanding and popular series such as JK Rowling’s Harry Potter seek to bring together disparate content in an effort to push beyond the category of young adult fiction. House of Bleu welcomes these developments; yet it also strives for a consistent level of quality. Taken too far, and genre fiction can come to seem monotonous. In order to combat that House of Bleu seeks to infuse in its genre fiction productions a sense of a unique and specified community. This community is a creature of the present: engaged, fresh, intelligent, exciting. The philosopher Mikhael Bakhtin argues for such an understanding, and House of Bleu is in sympathy with the author of The Dialogic Imagination. House of Bleu will continue to produce high-quality works of genre fiction in the months and weeks to come.
